Meet Marco Martinez, Resource Specialist at the Boulevard Mall Career Center. Marco, along with the entire Career Services team, is providing virtual career services via email and phone. Job seekers are also able to access online workshops and other career-oriented resources. In addition to providing virtual career services every day, Marco has found new ways of connecting with people who may need help.
Marco has been helping his neighbors that live in the same apartment complex. Operating at a safe distance, he has not only helped several people file for unemployment but coached another twenty neighbors with their job search and resume updates. After a day of virtual coaching, Marco continues to offer his assistance. Recently, he met a man while in the checkout line at Wal-Mart. This man was purchasing items for his son who is in the Navy and deployed at sea. During the conversation, Marco learned that this man recently lost his job, was not sure how long he could continue purchasing items for his son and was worried about the future. Marco offered his assistance and has helped him with his job search virtually.
We are proud of our Career Services team and their ability to offer virtual coaching. Marco is a great example of how during this difficult time, our small acts of kindness can make a difference.
